February 2010 Snow Storm
As all of you remember, and maybe are still digging out of our snow storm from February 5, 2010, this was a beautiful but trying time for all of us. Local businesses had to close and many events were rescheduled due to the amount of snow that we received in such a short amount of time. Snow and ice collected on homes, businesses, and roads causing damage to many places, but reminding us, in Mother Nature’s crazy way, to slow down and take in the beauty that she controls. Unfortunately, not all of us could slow down and enjoy the beauty. Our road crews were out for days cleaning up the snow so we could all get back to our busy lives. A lot of good people that have snow plows on their trucks, snow blowers in hand, and even individuals armed with shovels, were out helping each other in our time of need, reminding all of us that there is still good people out there. While we adults were out shoveling, the children were having fun and are the ones that will remember this as a time of joy. Sport events and schools were canceled, and all the kids needed to worry about was sleeping in and who would have the fastest sled in the morning. Children built snowmen as hot chocolate was being prepared to keep them warm from the cold. Families got to spend time in the beauty that we really have not seen for many years. So please take some time out of your busy day to enjoy the pictures of the Ellwood area covered in snow, and to enjoy our next snow fall whenever that may be.
